Clubs and Activities

Brookside Place School is fortunate to offer students a roster of activities and clubs. Due to the current health parameters, some of these are temporarily on hold while others are proceeding in a virtual format.
Chorus: Students in Grades 4 - 5 can share in the joy of singing with Chorus Director Ms. Caitlin Schafer (schafer@cranfordschools.org). Rehearsals are held virtually on Thursday mornings and afternoons.
Band: Students in Grades 4 - 5 continue to expand their musicianship as well as their specific instrument technique with Band Instructor Mr. Alex DiFabio (difabio.alex@cranfordschools.org). Small groups meet during the afternoons in a physically distanced setting.
Orchestra: Students in Grades 4 - 5 work remotely with String Instructor Ms. Christine Lee (lee@cranfordschools.org) to develop their playing talents while exploring music theory and musicianship.
Student Council: The BPS Student Council works together to address needs at Brookside Place School and in the Cranford community at-large. There are elections for Student Council officers and annual service projects, such as the BPS Souper Bowl, a school-wide collection of canned goods to benefit Cranford Family Care that coincides with the NFL Super Bowl. The advisors are Mrs. Nansie Collins (collins@cranfordschools.org) and Mrs. Beth Lambe (lambeth@cranfordschools.org).
Environmental Club: Under the direction of Ms. Jenna Baillod (baillod@cranfordschools.org) students in Grades 3 - 5 learn about their local and global environment while exploring ways to preserve it. Through various activities and research, students choose a “cause” to focus on and determine how they can help create awareness. This club meets virtually.
Homework Club: Overseen by Mrs.Nicole Halkias (halkias@cranfordschools.org)  students in Grades 3 - 5 can participate in Homework Club. Here they receive extra support or assistance in certain subjects, collaborate with others and have discussions on assignments in a supportive environment. Stay tuned for more information about how this club will meet during 2020-2021.
Board Game Club: Overseen by Mrs. Paula O’Hara (oharapau@cranfordschools.org) students in Grades 3 - 5 can share their favorite board games with members. Due to the nature of the games and interactions, this club will be on hold until health protocol allows for closer interactions. Information for registering will be available at that time.
