Pretzel Sale Proceeds to the Rescue The BPS community raised $513 for the Cranford First Aid Squad through a recent after-school pretzel sale. The Student Council coordinated the event and then presented a check to a squad volunteer. Thanks to all who supported the effort!
Branching Out Three volunteer educators from the Union County Master Tree Stewards program visited fourth graders at Brookside Place School to discuss the importance of trees. Topics included interesting facts, tree appreciation and conservation. The visit also included interactive games and projects.
Raptor Trust Visits BPS Grade 5 Students BPS students in Grade 5 were able to meet a lucky Penny recently. This penny was an Eastern Screech Owl that was rescued by the Raptor Trust and is now part of their education program. Students were able to visit with Penny and learn about raptors including their keen senses, habits and the services provided by the trust.
Are You Smarter than a Cranford/Garwood 5th Grader? Cranford Public Schools is proud to partner with the Cranford Rotary Club, Saint Michael School and Lincoln School of Garwood to present the 12th edition of "Are You Smarter than a Cranford/Garwood 5th Grader?" Academic Bowl. Auditions for registered students will be held at their respective schools.
Souper Bowl 2023 The Brookside School community collected more than 245 canned goods for Cranford Family Care through its annual Souper Bowl event coordinated by the BPS Student Council.
Building Knowledge Brookside kindergarten students and first graders collaborated to build Lincoln Log cabins during their library / media center period after learning about Abraham Lincoln using the database PebbleGo. This makerspace activity also coincided with the recognition of Presidents' Day.
To the Rescue The BPS Student Council coordinated a pet supply drive to benefit the American Lab Rescue organization and local animal shelters. Thank you to all who made donations of toys, treats, health supplies and more. Your thoughtfulness and generosity made this effort a success!
Super Smiles February is National Children's Dental Health Month. BPS fourth grade students learned fun facts and helpful tips from Dr. Gersch and Dr. Rossignol from Gersch Orthodontics about how to help teeth and gums stay healthy.
