PJammin for Kids with Cancer

The BPS community supported children and families battling cancer by participating in PJammin Day. Students and staff wore pajamas to school and more than $3,500 in donations were collected for the American Childhood Cancer Organization. Thank you to all who participated and contributed!

Single Session School Day on October 10

Monday, October 10 will be a Single Session School Day. For Grades 1 - 5 arrival will be at 8:35 AM and dismissal at 12:35 PM. No lunch will be served, but please pack a water and snack. For Kindergarten, only PM kindergarten students will attend school. Arrival will be at 8:35 AM and dismissal at 11:15 AM.

Save the Date For Fall Fest

The BPS PTA will host its annual Fall Fest event for BPS families on Saturday, October 15. Please see the Weekly Correspondence for details including signs ups for fun contests and volunteer opportunities.

Coding is Cool

BPS students have been using robots and their coding skills during their library / media classes. Learning tools Sphero, Dash, Edison and the Coding Mouse are programmed to complete specific tasks. These fun and interactive lessons enforce STEM learning (science, technology, engineering and math).

The Power to Inspire

In recognition of Say Something Week, BPS School Counselor Mrs. Biggiani invited students to reflect on the statement: When you say something, you have the power to inspire! Students were able to submit poems, paintings, short stories or other creative pieces about what this statement means to them. Congratulations to the four students who were honored for their submissions!

Summer Reading Lists and Resources

Reading for pleasure during July and August is a great way to reinforce skills, build stamina and enjoy some downtime. The district library media specialists have curated a reading list. See attachment. The ELA department website also includes summer learning resources for students and materials for striving readers by grade-band.

Celebrating the Earth

Students in Mrs. Sforza's AM and PM kindergarten classes recognized Earth Day by planting flowers outside their dismissal door bringing signs of spring right to their doorstep. They also engaged in learning centers designed to teach important concepts while honoring our special planet. Thank you to the BPS PTA for supporting the project and to the parent/guardian volunteers who helped make it a success.

Arbor Day Celebration

BPS students and staff recognized Arbor Day 2022 with a return to our traditional tree planting ceremony. The four Grade 1 classes began the event by singing "The Star Spangled Banner" followed by "It's Time Plant a Tree." The special inscription that accompanied the newly planted crepe myrtle was: "Through tough years, just like a tree with strong roots, we remain standing tall."
