Brookside Place School students are focused on the theme of respect. Recently they participated in several activities designed to inspire deeper thinker about respect at school, respect for ourselves, and respect for each other. One activity included listening to the story We're All Wonders by RJ Palacio and discussing the theme afterwards. Students talked about what makes them unique, how they can show respect for one another's differences, and whether or not treating each other with respect is difficult. Each student was then asked to create a piece of a mural as a way to highlight that we are all different and unique, but when we come together we create a wonderful masterpiece! The three featured messages include a quote from Maya Angelo, the district motto of "Growing Tomorrow's Leaders Together" and "No Place for Hate."
