During the month of December, Mrs. Halkias's and Mrs. Lambe’s Grade 5 class collected donations for troops and sent them to Operation Military Matters. Some of the items collected were toothbrushes, coloring books, colored pencils, playing cards, granola bars, trail mix, deodorant, nail clippers, peanut butter, jelly, beef jerky, crossword puzzles, and pop tarts. Operation Military Matters was started in 2015 by Graci Tubbs, a fourth grade student who was inspired to support members of the military after hearing veterans speak at a school assembly. What began as a school project grew into a nonprofit organization and Operation Military Matters has now sent almost 10,000 care packages to troops around the world and raised more than $500,000. Today, Graci speaks to civic organizations herself and addresses members of the military. 5NH was happy to support this cause and thanks the families that made donations.
