The New Jersey Department of Education is committed to acknowledging classroom teachers and educational service professionals who are nominated by their learning community for exemplary performance. For 2020-2021, the BPS honorees are Mrs. Megan Green and Mrs. Brenda Bishop. Mrs. Green teaches a virtual Grade 1 classroom and Mrs. Bishop assists in her classroom as well as others at Brookside Place School.
Mrs. Green joined the Brookside community in December 2017. Asked what she loves the most about teaching, she said, "The thing that I enjoy the most about teaching is watching the growth of my students from the beginning of the year to the end. I also enjoy having fun with my students each day, whether that is in person or virtually."
In addition to her exemplary work in the virtual teaching environment, Mrs. Green previously taught third grade and worked as an assistant in a Grade 2 classroom.
Mrs. Bishop has been a member of the BPS staff since 2009. "What I enjoy most about being a classroom assistant is the ability to give my students and teachers the care, compassion and support they need on a daily basis. I love seeing my students' faces each morning and I feel lucky to work in such a wonderful environment."
"Brookside is truly a home away from home," explained Mrs.Green. "Everyone is very supportive and will go out of their way to help you. I've also really loved being part of the BPS Variety Shows. As a former dancer, I love that I am able to share my passion for dance with my students."
Mrs. Green, Mrs. Bishop and all the honorees from each of the Cranford public schools will be recognized by the Cranford Board of Education in the spring.
