At Brookside Place School we are focused on being a caring, healthy community of students, staff and families.
We are currently in the process of completing the Annual Health Screenings. Please see the information below:
According to the N.J. Department of Education, the goal of school health services is to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children and staff.
Since health and intellectual development of children are interrelated, the following is a list of state mandated screening services provided by the school nurse.
-
Height, Weight and Blood Pressure: all grade levels
-
Hearing Screening: K-3, 7th Grade
-
Vision Screening: K, 2, 4, 6, 8th Grade
-
Scoliosis Screening: 5th grade and 7th grade
Health screenings are conducted throughout the school year. Every attempt is made to minimize the loss of instructional time when scheduling screenings.
Deviations from normal will be reported to the parents as per state guidelines. Parents who wish to opt-out of any mandated screenings, must notify the school nurse in writing, and provide the data from their healthcare practitioner.
