Good morning Parents/Guardians,
I hope this correspondence finds you and your family well. I would like to follow up on my July 31 correspondence which, in accordance with the governor’s executive orders, provides parents/guardians the flexibility to select in-person or fully remote options for their child. In that correspondence, it was stated that a parent / guardian can always change their mind to opt for virtual instruction, but a request to move to in-person instruction would be honored and implemented at three specific windows throughout the year (November, February, and April).
I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with more information on the process and timelines if you are interested in switching to in-person instruction from full-remote learning for the upcoming February window. I also want to make sure you are aware that the amount of students who change to in-person instruction can impact current scheduling. If more students opt for in-person instruction than there are seats available in a physically distanced room, then schedule adjustments may have to be made, up to and including using a cohort “A” day “B” day model at the K-5 level. Please know that moving to a cohort model at the elementary level would be a last resort and we will do everything possible to minimize disruptions to current schedules. However, as was the case when classes were formed during late summer, the District will not know how many kids will be attending in-person / fully remote, until parent/guardian selections are made. We appreciate your understanding, flexibility, and patience, as we work through trying to accommodate everyone’s desires.
December 18th - Parents / Guardians of children who are currently on full remote instruction will receive a correspondence asking them to either confirm their decision to continue with full remote learning or request a switch to in-person instruction by completing a form. Note: If you are currently participating in in-person instruction, you will not need to take any action and therefore will not receive the December 18th correspondence.
January 15 - Deadline for current fully-remote students to indicate they would like to transition to in-person instruction
January 25 - Additional instructions provided to students / parents / guardians to ensure a smooth transition
February 1 - First day of in-person learning for transitioned fully-remote students
As always, thank you for your support and partnership as we navigate these uncharted waters. We will get through this together!
Be well and stay safe!
